From the time Remember This Knight made his competitive debut April 17th of this year, it has been quite apparent that he is going to be a force to be reckoned with. In just a few short months, with limited outs, this handsome bay yearling has already racked up a number of open and amateur halter points, 6 grands, 7 reserves and multiple circuit championships, including those at the Arkansas Jamboree, Louisiana Spring Fling QH Show, Memorial Day Show in Pine Bluff, the LQHA Qualifying Show in Baton Rouge and the Big A in Atlanta. In fact, he was such a consistent favorite from the time he made his debut, by July 10th he was already qualified in both open and amateur for the yearling stallion classes at 2005 AQHA World Show.

Remember This Knight is by Dawns Knight and out of Fancys Mocha Memory. Dawns Knight was a son of Perpetualism and was himself both an outstanding individual and an extremely promising young sire until his premature death last year after having only two colt crops hit the ground. Fancys Mocha Memory, is a daughter of Fancy Advantage.

Remember This Knight is owned by Martin Northern, Benton, Arkansas and has been placed in the very capable hands of Jarrell Jackson to be fitted and shown in the open. Martin is doing the honors in the amateur classes. The young stallion was bred by Louis Pauratore and was purchased this past March from Linda Pigg of Gainesville, Texas.

It's easy to see why Remember This Knight has been such a favorite with judges this year. Possessing the more modern type of conformation that so many are seeking today, he has all the necessary attributes of a top halter contender — an absolutely gorgeous head and neck, well-muscled chest, correctly proportioned top line, large hip, nicely sloping shoulder and pasterns and straight legs — while at the same time the really nice, fluid movement and good mind of a performance horse. In a word, this horse is a complete package.

"Everybody that sees him falls in love with him," says Jarrell. "I had the same reaction the first time I saw him and so did Martin. He's the kind of horse you just can't seem to take your eyes off of—and I believe he's just going to get better as he matures. So many people have already come up to me and said that he's the first breeding horse they've seen this year. That makes me feel really confident about his future and I know it does the same for Martin."

"This is Martin's first venture into owning a halter stallion," Jarrell goes on, "And it's definitely been a learning curve for him. But he's already got a good handle on everything he's going to need to do, including an excellent marketing plan for the horse. So, we're both looking forward to what the future will bring both in the ring and in the breeding barn."

"Jarrell's right when he says this is a 'whole new ball game' for me," comments Martin, "I've had horses virtually all my life, raised them, trained them and sold them, but I've never participated in halter competition—or owned a stallion of this caliber. And what he didn't tell you," he adds laughing, "Is that even though I asked him to keep his eye out for a good prospect, the purchase still took me by complete surprise. When I agreed to go with Jarrell to Texas to look at Remember This Knight, I was adamant that I was only going to look, not to buy, but it certainly didn't turn out that way!"

"Seriously though," he goes on, "I have to give the lion's share of the credit for all we've already accomplished to Jarrell as well as good friends like Linda and Judson Pigg and Ray Baxter. Jarrell's been there from day one teaching me and guiding me in the right direction, and Linda's, Judson's, and Ray's support has also been greatly appreciated."

An investment banker by profession, Martin has two children, both students at the University of Arkansas. Christin, age 23, is studying law in the university's Law School, and Drew, age 20, is a junior working toward his undergraduate degree in Business Administration. Martin operates his horse business under the name Northern Quarter Horses. His farm manager is Marc Worsham.

Martin will no doubt continue spending a lot of time with Remember This Knight because Jarrell is relocating his operation to Ray Baxter's Cedar Ridge Farm located in Martin's hometown of Benton, Arkansas. Plans call for Jarrell and Martin to continue showing the stallion in halter next year, and Jarrell will stand him for his first breeding season. "I couldn't be more pleased that Jarrell is moving his operation here," says Martin, "This will give me an opportunity to be more involved with this horse and everything that I hope to accomplish with him in the years to come and on a level that would not otherwise been possible."

Remember This Knight's fee is $1,000, with a $250 Booking Fee. 2006 bookings are still available but limited. Consideration will be given to proven mares, and multiple mare discounts are available. Remember This Knight is nominated to the AQHA Incentive Fund and all the major futurities.

Martin has also established the Remember This Knight Incentive Fund, which will award $5,000 to the first World Champion offspring from the American Quarter Horse Association, American Paint Horse Association, Palomino Horse Breeders Association or International Buckskin Horse Association.

Watch for Remember This Knight in the amateur and open yearling halter classes at the 2005 Congress as well as the 2005 AQHA World Championship Show. And, if you're in attendance at either event, be sure to drop by the stalls for a closer look. We think you'll find it to be well worth your time because this young stallion is truly an outstanding individual.
